2 CampTO programs shut down

The City of Toronto has shut down two CampTO programs for the remainder of the week after a camper tested positive for COVID-19.

A release says the child was sent home from camp at the Barbara Frum Community Centre with symptoms last week and tested positive for the coronavirus. They have been self-isolating since that time.

A small number of children from the camp at Barbara Frum had returned to the same location as well as at the camp at Glen Long Community Centre. The city says out of an abundance of caution, both are being closed for the rest of the week to undergo a deep cleaning.

The programs will resume at both centres on August 17.

The city is reaching out to all the families who had children attending camp at each location as well as camp staff. They say any children who attended between August 4 to 12 and had direct contact with the participant will be contacted.

No other campers or staff have reported symptoms. Any campers who test negative, remain asymptomatic and are not required to self-isolate will still be able to attend camp on Monday.
